Product Spotlight: Topcon LN-100

July 21, 2015 – The revolutionary Topcon LN-100 presents easy-to-use hardware that provides the accuracy and versatility of a much more complex 3D positioning tool.

The LN-100 is a simplified 3D positioning solution engineered specifically for Building Information Modelling (BIM) and construction layout and was designed for entities not requiring the full power or technical abilities of a robotic total station day to day.

The unit provides simple one-touch layout data for interior building infrastructure, footings and foundations. By measuring two known points on a site and communicating these wirelessly to the control panel, the LN-100 knows where it is and can provide accurate information on where everything in the plans or CAD drawings needs to be.

With a measurement range of 0.9m-100m, the LN-100 utilises Topcon’s proven laser and robotic total station technology, creating a zone of 3D positioning data on the site. Power the LN-100 on and it automatically self-levels, then position the 360 degree prism and touchscreen controller anywhere desired within the layout zone for precise measurements.

Thanks to its wireless connectivity the LN-100 can communicate data from within the cloud and sync instantly with any changes from the office or the field. It can also synch with all data for the project including machine control, construction applications and GIS mapping. The LN-100 weighs only 4kg, making it a versatile and easily handled tool around the layout zone as well.

“Because the LN-100 supports Android, Windows Mobile and Windows 8.1 tablet operating systems, it provides a very flexible platform and allows users to ‘BYOD’ – bring their own device,” says Synergy Positioning Systems’ technical manager Louie Schutte.

“Our MAGNET Field software is a feature-packed application for set-out and data collection, but we also offer a free Android app called TopLayout which builders can utilise quickly and easily for basic set-out work.

“It is features like these that really underline the ease-of-use of the LN-100,” he says.

While the Topcon LN-100 features superior technical ability within a compact package for less expense that a robotic total station, Synergy Positioning Systems also offer customers the option of hiring the LN-100.
