Christchurch Expansion - Synergy Heads South

Synergy Positioning Systems announces new Christchurch office dedicated to South Island customers.

May 2014 – Machine Control Manager Chad Slater is set to head up a dedicated Synergy Positioning Systems office in Christchurch, looking after the project requirements of Synergy Positioning’s clients in both the city and throughout the South Island.

“Essentially there is so much activity in Christchurch, especially with regard to construction companies utilising machine control technology, that it makes sense to have technical support on location there,” says Chad.

“Currently our support service for Christchurch customers remains pretty comprehensive, but there’s nothing like having technical back-up at the end of the road, rather than at the end of the phone. We’ve seen a big increase in Topcon machine control customers in the city lately, so the time is definitely right to open a dedicated office there.”

In addition to metro Christchurch, Chad will look after the requirements of Topcon machine control customers around the South Island, including Ashburton, Blenheim, Nelson and the West Coast.

“The Topcon product really sells itself; it’s amazing technology, but there is definitely an educational process to adopting it confidently. For me to be able to jump in the ute, head out on-site and engage with customers in that way will be really beneficial,” he says.

Synergy Positioning Systems’ General Manager Brad Rayner agrees that the time is right to increase the company’s national footprint.

“Naturally we want to promote all of the technologies we represent – and there will be big opportunities around aerial mapping in Wellington, for example, as infrastructure projects like Transmission Gully ramp up.

“Right now though our focus in Christchurch will be on Topcon’s GPS machine control systems; it’s technology that is fast gaining traction and we want to be at the forefront of this industry mind-shift in a location that offers so much opportunity.”
